CJ’s 5th birthday party was this past weekend and the weather was beautiful. We had 30 people total, including 16 kids! The party was at a local park so we rented a bounce house and tables and chairs. We tried to find a space-themed bouncer but didn’t have any luck. A castle bouncer looks like 4 rockets, right?
The kids had fun playing on the playground and bouncer and the adults enjoyed being out in the sunshine. Actually, I got a little too much sunshine – I got sunburned. I wasn’t prepared for the summer-like day.
We brought our picnic table and borrowed our neighbor’s too. The kids liked sitting together for lunch.
I made CJ’s Rocket Birthday Cake to resemble his Rocket Invitations. I bought a 1/2 sheet cake from the grocery store bakery and made a paper template of a rocket to fit the cake. I poked toothpicks through the paper, into the cake, to hold the template in place. I used a bread knife to carve away the excess cake. I tinted one container of white icing with 10 drops of blue food coloring to frost the rocket.
Wavy candles became instant rocket boosters. Writing on the cake was really hard. I think next time I’ll use those little sugar letters or see if I can get the baker to write it for me.
One of my favorite birthday gifts for CJ was his Rocket t-shirt. I used the same clip-art rocket from his Rocket Invitations, added his age and name, and printed it out on transfer paper to make an iron-on. CJ loves it!
Here are the Rocket Favor Bags. I printed the rocket clip-art onto sticker paper and then cut out the rockets.
Thanks to everyone for coming and bringing such great gifts! We’ve spent the last few days building Lego sets, blasting off rockets and playing Monster Trucks. Lots of fun!

Sure looks like a BLAST (ha ha, get it!!)
Wish we could have been there!!
Ha, ha – we wish you guys could have come too

Awesome! My 3yr old just asked for a Rokcet birthday party and your post gave me tons of great ideas. Thank you!
You’re welcome Sandra! I hope your son/daughter has a great 3rd birthday!
Hi Sherry! Love all you did for your son’s rocket b-day party! I have one question for you. Where did you find “sticker paper”? I have looked for that in the past (I get into all the birthday/event planning, etc. for my kids also!) and haven’t found it. Thanks!
Cindy
Hi Cindy, I updated the Avery Sticker Paper link. If you click the link you can order it online or click the button on the page and search for a local dealer. I bought mine in a different state, so that probably won’t help you. Here is the link just in case:
